Social Studies: Is Atlanta Really an LGBTQ Haven?

With its huge annual Pride festival and vibrant LGBTQ nightlife scenes, Atlanta is regarded as an LGBTQ haven. Yet when it comes to the overall safety of the city’s diverse populace, serious questions have gone unanswered. This panel will address the concerns and real-time struggles — from MARTA to public health to education — of all the queers and others who call Atlanta home.

Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems: CCI Summer Benefit Improv Show

To kick off the summer in style, the Center for Civic Innovation is hosting a Summer Benefit Improv Comedy Show! The show's theme is "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems," a playful spin on the woes of both raising money and giving it away. The fun twist: the "actors" will be leaders in our community, including Ann Cramer, Bill Bolling, Frank Fernandez, Alicia Philipp, Ayesha Khanna, and many more to come.

Practical Financial Planning for the Modern Young Nonprofit Professional
Thursday, July 21, 5:30 - 8:30 pm

Event attendees can expect to engage with financial planning professionals and nonprofit CEOs about the best tips and tools for personal financial planning across their career in the nonprofit sector. Speakers will discuss negotiating salary and benefits, student loan repayment, taxes and retirement planning, and the differences between financial planning for nonprofit employees vs. for profit employees. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with financial planning consultants about their individual challenges and ideas.
